A monocular is a modified refracting telescope used to magnify the images of distant objects by passing light through a series of lenses and prisms; the use of prisms results in a lightweight telescope. Volume and weight are less than half those of binoculars, making it easy to carry.

Got these for the kids for backyard experiments. They love them and have a lot of fun. Are they the highest quality? No not really. They are plastic and came with some scratches. I am happy with what I got for the money. Yes. Would I buy it again. Yes.

I bought these for my niece and nephew along with an intro to nature studies. They were much less expensive than the 10x loupes that came as an additional purchase with the book and work just as well. A great value as far as I'm concerned since kids tend to misplace things every now and then.

Got these just for the purpose of changing watch batteries and misc things. They're great for the job.

You've seen a jeweler's eye loupe used in the classic jewelry-heist movies - the bad guy always seems to have one handy for examining the diamonds. In real life, they're an amazingly useful tool; sort of like a microscope you can hold up to your eye to bring the smallest detail into view...

Older eyes will especially benefit from the added magnification. Comfortable and easily adjustable. Great gift idea.

I bought this to get more magnification on my Headband Visor. This is meant to increase magnification by 2.5X. It does work, but the field of view is so small that it's hard to do any work under the magnifier. And it is only in good focus at the very center of the loupe, it quickly gets out of focus as you attempt to view a larger area. I guess I can't complain too much as it does magnify as claimed, and it's pretty low cost.

A am a 62 year young man working on a moderate-sized N-Scale 1950s Oklahoma train layout. One of the challenges I have had is cementing N-Scale grocery carts together. This would not have been possible without this product. The magnifier is simple to attach and works well with the Donegan Magnifier Opti-Visor.

Monocular telescope with soft protective case and eye cup.

Monoculars, sometimes called telescopes when used in this capacity, are often used by visually impaired people to see distant objects that would normally be indiscernible. For example, they are often used to read text on a chalkboard or projection screen.

Besides their use by the visually impaired, they are also used in hunting, survival and espionage. For these specific tasks smaller monoculars are made that fit inside a regular pocket; they are frequently referred to as "pocket scopes".
